WHAT TO DO IN HOKITIKA

7873-Hokitika Gorge-West Coast-Fraser-Cl

HOKITIKA GORGE

Sometimes you see photos of a tourist spot and you think "yeah right" it cant look that good in real life. Hokitika Gorge is one of those places. The vivid turquoise water surrounded by lush native bush looks too good to be true. The gorge is 33kms from Hokitika. It is a short walk from the car park through a mainly rimu and podocarp forest to an accessible viewing platform where the water has to be seen to believed. You can walk a little further across a swing bridge to another viewing platform and the rivers edge.
